About Spenser's Life:

Edmund Spenser was born in East Smith field, London, around the year 1552, though there is some ambiguity as to the exact date of his birth. His parenthood is obscure, but he was probably the son of John Spenser, a journeyman cloth maker. As a young boy, he was educated in London at the Merchant Taylor's' School and matriculated as a sizer at Pembroke College, Cambridge.

Spenser published numerous relatively short poems in the last decade of the sixteenth century, Mostly Spenser wrote about love or sorrow. Spenser published “Amoretti” and "Epithalamion".

Spenserian Stanza:

For the "Faery Queen" Spenser invented a new verse form, which has been called since his day the Spenserian stanza. Because of its rare beauty it has been much used by nearly all our poets in their best work.
